Hello colleagues
The BirdLife Red List Team has now finished posting discussion topics on the Globally Threatened Bird (GTB) Forums regarding possible Red List status changes for birds in 2019. As you may be aware, the team posts topics on the GTB Forums to solicit information and invite comments on proposed Red List status changes, to inform decisions on possible changes to bird species’ status on the IUCN Red List. This helps to ensure that we take into account the latest available data and the best current expert knowledge of species’ conservation status. One of the species featured in the discussion is the Turner's Eremomela found in Kenya and the DRC. You are invited to direct review and provide inputs into the species’ discussion at https://globally-threatened-bird-forums.birdlife.org/2019/05/turners-eremomela-eremomela-turneri-revise-global-status/. Please note that, while the team welcomes comments and evidence that contradict their proposal, they also urge contributors to post messages of support for proposals they agree with, as this greatly helps us to assess all relevant feedback and reach decisions.
Please provide your comments by 30 June 2019. Soon after that date, the team will review the contributions made and post a list of preliminary proposals on the GTB Forums. There will then be two more weeks for further comments, before they finalise their recommendations to IUCN on changes for the 2019 Red List update. Please note that due to time constraints, comments provided after this time are unlikely to be taken into account in the 2019 Red List update. The new and revised species assessments and updated factsheets will be published on the BirdLife Data Zone website and incorporated into the 2019 IUCN Red List update, currently scheduled for release in early December.
We encourage all contributors to provide feedback directly via the GTB Forums if at all possible. However, anyone unable to use the GTB Forums or wishing to comment via email is welcome to do so – please send your comment to RedListTeam@birdlife.org and confirm that you are happy for the team to post your comment (with your name) on the GTB Forums on your behalf.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Many thanks for supporting BirdLife’s Red List work, and for sharing your expertise to help ensure that bird species are correctly categorised on the IUCN Red List.
