Subject: The Semi-collared Flycatcher is actually a Pied!

Hi birders,

Yesterday I shared a photo of what was assumed to be a Semi-collared Flycatcher at the Nairobi museum. It turns out the bird is actually a much rarer migrant, a Pied Flycatcher! It lacks the white patch in the primaries and half collar of Semi-collared. Brian Finch pointed out the lack of white in the primaries yesterday. I went out with several birders at the museum to have another look at the bird and we confirmed that it is indeed a Pied Flycatcher. See the attached photos of the bird taken today. It seems to be a 1st year bird. This is the first record of this species in Nairobi as far as I know.
