Hi Neil,
Thanks for you input. It's going to be difficult to compare the
Tanzanian Atlas 1/4 degree squares with the Pentads. I'm no
mathematician but I think roughly a half a degree side is 55.4 kms on
the Equator and the area decreases with the narrowing of the longitude
bands with each degree both north and south of the equator. As I
cannot work this out at all, going back to equator measurements, with
55.4km sides to a square that is 1/4 degree square = 3102.49 sq
kilometres, but a Pentad is only 81 sq kms just 5 miles long and five
mile wide which makes it a 38th of the area of your atlas square,
