Dear all,
Very interesting to have news of these recoveries and great to
have people reporting them - hugely important for building up our
knowledge and understanding of their movements, habitat
requirements etc. Thanks Susan for the info on the Tz bird last
year.
For all readers - Please do report all and any sightings or
recoveries of ringed birds to the Ringing Scheme of East
Africa <ringing.eafrica@gmail.com> which maintains a
database of all recoveries in the region. This means that we can
easily keep track of such data and make it readily available for
researchers and conservationists who might need to use it.
Otherwise such data can get 'lost' in the European ringing scheme
where the bird came from - as such information is not usually
shared with the country where the bird was recovered - and we
never find out about connectivity of what are in fact our birds as
well.
Thanks.
Dear Brian
Here is some information about ringing of black storks and a photo of one we observed in Tarangire NP about a year ago. I hope you are able to trace your bird.

Dear Susan,
first of all, thank you very much for this recovery report.Looking at the photo, I suspect that the number may indeed be 51T5. 5115 was used years ago, and this is definitely a second year bird.
Can you please send the photo in bigger resolution?
Thanks, and best regards once more,

HelloOn March 13 2016 we observed a Black Stork with a white ring on its leg at Tarangire National Park in Tanzania (approximate latitude and longitude coordinates are -3.78, 36.03). The number was 5115. I’ve attached a photo for your records.
If possible, would you be able to tell me where this bird was ringed?
Susan Scott
