Subject: Waterfowl Counts

Hello Birders

I sincerely thank all the organizer, participants and everybody else whom have made the wetland Birds counts to place twice every Year. On Wednesday this Week it took place at Nairobi National Park where by, members  sub-divided into smaller groups in order to manage all the Wetlands in Nairobi N, Park.
In my group we managed to Count the following Dams

 HYENA DAM
Had many Sacred Ibis,Good number of Egyptian Geese, Long-toed Three banded, Spur-winged and Blacksmith Plovers, African Jacana, Black-winged Stilt, Little Stint, Grey-crowned Crane, Africa Spoonbill, Wood sandpipers, Black Crakes, Common Moorhen among others. At a stream that takes its water to the Dam near the by-pass the Green Sandpiper makes it call as it took off.

ORMANYI DAM
Didn't produce more but was very good with 14 Common Snipes which without the help of Telescope we could have missed them for they were very camouflaged the very brown soil. Others , Knob-billed Duck, Common Sandpiper  and Grey Heron. among others

NAGOLOMON DAM
African darters with Young one, Great white egret, Reeds cormorants, Malachite and pied Kingfisher, among others

Kindly find the attached photos of Common Snipe and Knob-billed Duck.

Good luck birding,
George
