The following records from the Masai Mara may be of interest.
White Storks 150 + Dec’ 4th. Interestingly most
appeared to be immature.
Abdim’s Stork 1 Dec’ 4th. Their numbers
seem to be decreasing every year, but only 1 seen this year! I wonder if this
is the situation in the Serengeti?
White-headed Vulture 1, the first for a long time Nov’ 28th.
Maybe just a coincidence but this bird was sitting in a tree very close to
where White-headed Vultures nested for years. Unfortunately this tree fell down
during a storm
Vultures numbers were good. Lappet-faced, Ruppell’s,
White-backed and Hooded were all seen regularly.
Common Buzzards several in residence from early November
onwards.
Amur Falcons 2 immature on Dec 4th
Common Kestrels seen daily from early November onwards.
White-fronted Bee-eater 1 Dec’8th.
Eurasian Roller 1 immature Dec’ 4th
Both Northern and Isabelline Wheatears resident during November
and December.
