Subject: Lake Naivasha arrivals and residents- 18/10/2015

Hallo all,

Yesterday we spent a day at Lake Naivasha- Kimani's place, with the Nature Kenya potluck team- led by Fleur Ng'weno.

The lake was flocking with water birds. Highlights included Black-tailed Godwits-small flock, Garganey-2, 2 Black Herons, 10 Common Snipes, 1 Goliath Heron, 1 Purple Heron, 1 Striated Heron, Ruff-flocks, Marsh Sandpiper-small flock, 1 Common Sandpiper, Wood Sandpiper-small flock, 1 Common Ringed Plover, Northern Shoveler-3, Pied Avocets-small flock and 1 Western Marsh Harrier. There were also 12 Greater Flamingos and 5 African Fish Eagles. A Pink-backed Pelican was teaming with African Spoonbills in a fishing lap.

Later we passed by Manguo ponds, where 2 Maccoa Ducks and 1 Purple Swamphen were among the water birds there.

Kind regards,
Washington Wachira.
