Hi Darcy

My own records of cuckoo hawks on the coast were of birds around July-September. And I think Peter Britton only found them seasonally. I wonder what Colin’s experience is?  Maybe their status has changed. Olivier’s record strongly indicates breeding and ought to form a brief Scopus note – with that super photo.

Cheers

David

Dear all,

Simon Thomsett said the following:
cuckoo hawks breed all up and down the coast. It is one of their favoured habitats. I have pictures of families in degraded habitats around watamu. They are very dependent on lizards and chameleons...abundant at the coast.

Cheers, Darcy

we observed a pair of African Cuckoo Hawk mobbing a Martial Eagle. Now why would they have territorial behaviour if they are not breeding on the Kenyan coast.

As usual we know next to nothing about intra-african migrants while in "the North" every second wren or house sparrow now is carrying around a satellite tracking device.
