The Stevenson Fanshawe guide seems to show the distribution of the Pearl-spotted as not reaching the coastline, but I guess they do!

Greetings from Malindi, where Black-bellied Starlings have been a cheerful chorus the last few weeks.

In a quick visit to Diani we caught sight of what looked like an A. Barred Owlet, but the light wasn't great.  If you can make it out from the photos below (taken with small camera), we'd appreciate other thoughts on it.

Its eyes looked dark.
