Hallo Dave,

I have heard of tooth decay and staining in crocs- especially salt water crocs (but these should be our typical Nile Crocs); although I have not heard of a clear reason why.
I know they shed the stained and decayed teeth regularly; there is usually a small tooth sitting under the old one and replaces it whenever the top one is in bad shape.
I would love to know why these crocs are browning. My close thought would be in the water, since they expose the teeth for long and components in the water can colour the teeth.

Thanks.
Washington Wachira.

I spent some time at the hyena dam recently and noticed that the crocs had brown teeth. The attached images are of 2 different crocs and I also saw a third with brown teeth. Any ideas anyone.
