Subject: Debate on the Future of Elephants 25th Apr Brookhouse School 4 pm

Dear friends,

Elephants and other wildlife species are in trouble in Kenya. We need greater public understanding, compassion and support to save elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetah and even yes, birds.

I know it's a wild idea, but the goal of this debate is to attract public attention and interest to the ongoing poaching crisis, and to discuss controversial issues like ivory destructions, human wildlife conflict and to begin thinking about possible CITES proposals to trade in ivory at the next Conference Of The Parties in 2016.

The audience includes the public, students from schools and universities, diplomats, media, bloggers, scientists and elephant experts.

The speakers include US Ambassador Robert F. Godec
as well as

John Sibi Okumu (moderator)
Philip Murgor (Advocate)
Dr. Winnie Kiiru (ecologist),
Chief Nyamweya (story teller),
Charle Onyango-Obbo (journalist),
Kwame Owino (economist),
Clara Wanjiku (writer),
Irungu Houghton (NGO activist),
Paula Kahumbu (ecologist)
Jeff Koinainge MBS (journalist)

It is on Saturday 25th April
from 4 - 6 pm  (come at 3.30 to clear security)
Brookhouse School Nairobi
It will be live streamed

I hope you can either attend in person or online via twitter #Tweet4Elephants
