Thanks Colin. I am registered with Kenya Bird Map and know Gladys and Washington will.  Will submit one I return to Nairobi next week.

Hi Sheena,

A great record! Could you submit it as an Incidental Record for the Kenya Bird Map project? If you are not yet signed up for this or don't know much about it contact Washington or Gladys at the Kenya Bird Map office at the museum on kenyabirdmap@naturekenya.org . It's basically a repeat of the first Bird Atlas of Kenya which was done over 30 years ago only this time it is all online and you see your records being mapped as you submit them. It's a great project and is really going to contribute to bird conservation in Kenya very significantly.

Records of raptors such as your Bat Hawk are great for incidental records to build up a picture of their distribution and seasonality. You can load up images of incidental records as well - so one of your photos would be great to have stored for the long term!

Thanks and happy birding!

Colin

I thought it might be but didn't dare suggest it!  It's still here.  Perhaps will see it hunting tonight!

The raptor in the attached pictures has sat all day in the canopy of a Croton tree in my garden in Rosslyn Lone Tree, Nairobi.  Legs appear white, distinctive marking under chin, black beak, yellow and black eye, white bars visible on tail in one of the pictures.  Looks juvenile.  Any ideas?  Sheena
