While this petition relates to the trafficking of great apes, other
threatened species are also being trafficked through the misuse of CITES
documents. CITES needs to determine to what extent the use of CITES
documents to illegally move animals applies to apes and other species,
including birds (e.g., African Grey Parrots)...and take the measures necessary
to stop this misuse.
