Subject: Re: [KENYABIRDSNET] Hell's Gate National Park being destroyed by rapid geothermal development

Hello

Thank you Darcy for that awareness about Hell's gate a good place to see a number of swift and birds of prey.

Yes its by that state, that we say that KWS are not fit to protect our national heritages, for example look the way the wheelbarrow race, Tarmacked road  may be affecting this park again they should be on the front line to show how things should be done especially when it came to Geothermal drilling and conservation. For that is their mandated according to wildlife constitution. To protect and conserve of all Flora and Fauna.

Sad for that speeding vehicle to kill a Leopard. We can ask our-self how many more animals, birds and other things that are killed and go unnoticed?. Again knowing that this is one of the breeding area for Ruppell's Griffon Vulture, a number of falcons and many other species that depend on it for survival.

Something must be done soonest.

All the best,
George.

Dear all,

Please see the link below to see what is becoming of Hell's Gate National Park.  The park is a birding hotspot, particularly for raptors and swifts.  Endangered Ruppell's Vultures used to nest in the park, but have not nested since drilling began above their main nesting cliff.  The noise due to drilling inside the park is deafening, speeding vehicles run over leopards and other wildlife, promised mitigation measures are not happening.

Best, Darcy
