Subject: Mara Notes
Lots of migrants passing through.
Eurasian Bee-eaters many passing through heading south.
Steppe Eagles, many over the last 3 days.
14th Spotted Flycatchers many but none today!
15th Montagu's Harrier 1 male plus 1 possible Eurasian Hobby hawking over the Musiara Swamp. Unfortunately too far away to be sure of ID.
of interest: Large numbers of Ruppell's Griffon Vultures
13th I came across a dead zebra just outside of camp within 1 hour I counted the following eating the carcass.
Total number after 1 hour was approx 80 birds made up of mostly Ruppell's Griffons
Ruppell's Griffon 70
Lappet-faced 2
Hooded 2
White-backed 4
Steppe Eagles 2
Marabou Storks 2
Silver-backed Jackal 1
One hour later there was now at least 8 White-backed 2 more Hooded and 2 more Lappet-faced
