Dear All,

An interesting sighting.

The only Nairobi record I know of is the one I found dead on Masai West Road near my house in Langata on 8 July 1978 (Scopus 2: 110). Needless to say, this is outside NNP which lies some 4 km to east of my house (that was!).

The species is not recorded in Brian Finch's latest list for the Park.

Cheers,

Graeme

Dear All -

The day before yesterday in the evening, whilst walking in the Silole Sanctuary (southern border of Nbi Nat Park), I saw a single plover-like bird with very distinctive markings & pink legs which Zimmerman et al tells me is a Violet-Tipped Courser....a first sighting for me.

Presumably it is unusual to see this sp. in NNP though the book tells me there are previous records?

Best, Will Knocker
