It's definitely an Anas species. I stick by my original diagnosis as form of domestic Mallard. Bears some resemblance to American Black Duck as Brian says, but not a perfect match, and what would it be doing in Kenya, and TWO of them at that?

Domestic ducks in Kenya tend to be Muscovy ducks, of South American origin.

In Dakatcha we saw a lot of young White-faced Whistling Ducks without white faces, could it be one of those?
