I’ve just recorded a European Turtle Dove in my garden in Langata. There was a group of Dusky Turtle Doves feeding on the ground when one of them, much to my surprise, walked towards me. When it was closer (1m) I realised that it wasn’t a Dusky Turtle Dove but a European Turtle Dove. This bird was paler and its distinctive black and white neck markings made me realise its true identity.
