Subject: African Fish Eagle soaring over Upper Chania, Njabini, Kinangop

Dear Birders,

We were trapping and ringing birds this morning in the upper Chania
River in the slopes of the Aberdares in Njabini (altitude 2600m).

Peter Karani (of Nyahururu Bird Club) spotted an African Fish Eagle
soaring high over the forested habitat. The nearest huge water body
was Sasumua Dam. Francis Muigai and Maina Mwirigi who are residents
expressed it as very unusual and prob. a 1st record for Njabn.

We ringed several Golden-winged, Tacazze and Estn Double-collared Sunbirds.
