Ohad Hatzofe has recommended us to contact you.As part of a big project of monitoring survival, fitness and migration in white storks (ciconia ciconia), young white storks were harnessed with GPS transmitter tags. One young stork has died in Kenya in 12/2/2012. The exact last locations is: 3.3915/37.93667 (lat/lon). We would be interested in your help to find this bird. It is important for us to try to verify and figure out the cause of death and to find and reuse the transmitter. We will be happy to share the information about the route of the located Stork which was wintering in Kenya and help with the travel costs.
Sincerely
Shay Rotics2012/2/29 אוהד הצופה Ohad Hatzofe <ohad@npa.org.il>Shay,
I recommend to you to send the details & coordinates (3.392N 37.937E) to Dr. Munir Virani from Kenya. Although the area is far from Nairobi, he still might be able to help to retrieve the PTT or understand what had happened to the bird.

Subject: Young Storks update 29/2/12
-29 Feb 2012
Hello All
In the last update, month and a half ago, we had 6 active storks (out of 10). Unfurtunatally 3 have died since (one of them is the Israeli stork). The others are foraging in Tanzania (2) and Yemen (1) and didn't started to migrate north. Attached a doc with additional details.
The 2 survivals from the Donana storks are still active, one is in Spain since December and the other is doing his way back and it is now in Morocco.
All the best
Shay
