Subject: some raptor sightings

Dear all.

Just wanted to report a flock of nearly 500 Steppe Buzzards near Ewaso Ngiro near Narok seen on Friday 14th October 2011. The flock seemed to be heading south towards the Mara.
The birds were flying among some Gyps vultures (at least 10) and a couple of Lappet-faced Vultures.

I spent a week at Naboisho Conservancy north of the Masai Mara and we recorded 15 species of raptors, including at least 5 nests of Lappet-faced Vultures. Only one sighting of a Secretary Bird. This species has now been uplisted to Vulnerable and we need as much information to assess it's status in Kenya. I am in the process of putting together some preliminary data on Secretary Birds and would be grateful if anybody could send me some information about locations, nesting sites or any other information they have on Secretary Birds.

Have a great week.

Munir
