Light but steady rains here in Kijabe (central Kenya bt Nairobi and Naivasha) since mid-week last week. Mostly at night.

Subject: [tanzaniabirds] rain in Arusha

Just heard from Marc that it's raining every day in Arusha, are the farmers ploughing ?

what about other areas "up north"

esp the Mbulu Highlands and the Natron catchment.

Marian .. Singida ?

early rains could signal an early breeding season for waterbirds and they will attract Palearctic migrants wanting invertebrate food from the first flush of rain so if the Masai Steppe / Mkomazi is still dry the early migrants might move SW following the clouds.
