Subject: Easter at Kitale and Kakamega

Over Easter a few of us went birding to Kitale and Kakamega.
Highlights of the trip were:
At the Barnley's House were Double –toothed Barbets, Black-throated Wattle-eye, African Blue Flycatcher, African Thrush, Black-crowned Waxbill and roosting European Bee-eaters caught in the sun on the Sunday morning.
At the Saiwa and the other swamps nearby were Blue-spotted Wood Dove, Blue-headed Coucal, Marsh Tchagra, Lühder's Bushshrike, Grey Cuckooshrike, Chubb's Cisticola, Plain Greenbul, Yellow-throated Leaflove, Little Rush Warbler, Lesser Swamp Warbler,  African Reed Warbler, Brown Woodland Warbler, Grey-winged Robin, Red-capped Robin Chat, Snowy-headed Robin Chat, Black-billed Weaver and  Marsh Widowbird
And finally at Kakamega, there were too many exciting birds to mention but amongst our favourites were Grey Parrot, Great Blue Turaco, Blue-headed Bee-eater, Yellow-spotted Barbet , Yellow-billed Barbet, Jameson's Wattle-eye, Petit's Cuckooshrike, Shelley's Greenbul, Little Grey Greenbul, Honeyguide Greenbul, Red-tailed Bristlebill, Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Southern Hyliota, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Blue-shouldered Robin Chat, Vieillot's Black Weaver and Red-headed Bluebill.
