Subject: Great Snipe/Thrush Nightingale: an email thread about migration across Africa

Dear Kenyan birders,
Could this be the birth of a new network?

"A Great Snipe/Thrush Nightingale thread up-until-now is posted as here below, I hope that I have removed any sensitive information and that they don't mind my posting it there!!

Comments on the breeding areas of the beautiful Acrocephalus warbler illustrated (picture taken by U Ted Tizard of Burma!) are most welcome.
"Hint":
there were many this year at Speke Bay Lodge, beside Lake Victoria at the western end of the Serengeti ecosystem, from mid-March into mid-April (at least); they were feeding chiefly in the acacia canopy close to a a narrow swampy fringe of the shoreline.

No obvious Palearctic migrants here now at 3° South."

Very best wishes wherever you are,
James
