Subject: madagascar pond heron non-breeding / imm plumage

In this plumage these birds should not be confused with Squacco Herons. Would be good to see more pics of both this bird on it's wintering grounds (esp later in the season as they are moulting into breeding / adult plumage).
 
and a few pics of Squacco Heron in non-breeding plumage
 
just to ensure we all get this one right.
 
also be aware that..like Dwarf Bittern, this Madagascan bird prefers the edges of smaller wetlands and likes to perch in trees, esp when disturbed. It is also rather solitary but concentrations (of usually less than 10 birds) are known and I recall Dave Richard's had more than this at a favoured site in the Masai Mara.
