Hi James,

I think that I already mentioned to you that I had one Magpie Starling at Soita Nyiro Conservancy (SNC) on 10 May 09...feeding on Ewaso Nyiro River edge under that big Ficus sycamorus at Ol Gaboli Lodge.

One Golden-breasted Starling at Ewaso Nyiro R. on 6 Sept. 09....during height of big drought.

Only one of each species seen at SNC to date....but I am often not here....and when I seldom have much time for birding.

For those who do not know, SNC is an enclave to Mpala Wildlife Conservancy...about 18 km down the Ewaso Nyiro River from the bridge and the Mpala Research Ctr....and perhaps 10 km down river from where James Christian lives...at Karisia.

Regards,  Tom

I saw two Magpie Starlings yesterday on Mpala Farm. This is the first time that I have seen this species so far west.  On another occasion we got them on our side of the river (east of Mpala 7 km) but we see them regularly down in the lower country around the Sinyai Lugga (feeds into Kipsing).  Several weeks ago we had two Golden-breasted Starlings on the Ewaso Nyiro as well.  This was also quite far west for those guys who we also run into regularly in the lower lugga country to the east.

Cheers, James
