Subject: Scopus news

Greetings all,

This is an update on recent Scopus news.  In case you're not aware, Scopus is a peer-reviewed ornithological journal of East Africa.  It is available via Nature Kenya,  contact membershipservices@naturekenya.org

We are working on getting the next issue into print, hopefully by the end of the year.  This will be the second issue for 2008.  Peer-reviewed papers for the upcoming issue include:

Some aspects of conservation biology of papyrus endemic birds in Kenya

Avian diversity in forest gaps of Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda

Avifauna of Ishaqbini Community Conservancy in Ijara District, Kenya

Field notes on Raptors in and around Mertule Mariam,Gojjam Province North West Ethiopia

Fruit-eating birds at Celtis gomphophylla (Ulmaceae) in the East Usambara Mountains

We are very excited to have an increased number of papers submitted to Scopus from areas in the East African region beyond our stronghold areas. These submissions together with those from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are increasing the potential for up to 2-3 issues per year.  An exciting development, so please keep your submissions coming!

Sincerely,
Darcy Ogada
