Hi Edwin,
Lake Magadi too, has good numbers of palearctic waders inc. several Marsh Sandpipers, Avocets & a fair few flamingoes.( Sept 7th)
As well as many Chesnut Banded Plovers & Collared Pratincoles.
Interestingly  Lake Manyara (Tz) yesterday( 28th Sept) had v.few flamingoes on it, which indicates the Rift Valley flyway that the flamingoes use in moving from one lake to another.
Also a  fair few European Bee eaters in  Langata, Nairobi on Sat 20th Sept & also appearing in the Western Corridor, Serengeti on 27th Sept.

Cheers

Subject: [KENYABIRDSNET] Lake Nakuru

Dear All,

I have been unable to send this few sightings earlier

On  the 1st  and 2nd September   while  in lake Nakuru park I was thrilled by the numbers of flamingo on the lake, just two weeks before, Pelican numbers greatly overwhelmed that of  Flamingos which I estimated to be less than two thousand. On this day they were well over half a million!
Great to see the lake, regain her glowing glory.

Other notable species on this non birding tour were; one Ringed-plover, Several Curlew Sandpipers, many Little Stint,  three Avocet, one Woolly-necked Stork, one European Stork, Green and Wood Sandpipers, several tired Ruff.

On 20th September I saw again, most likely the same three Avocet

On 23rd I saw my first wintering Yellow Wagtail this year in Samburu reserve

Great birding
Selempo
