Subject: Lake Nakuru

Dear All,

I have been unable to send this few sightings earlier

On  the 1st  and 2nd September   while  in lake Nakuru park I was thrilled by the numbers of flamingo on the lake, just two weeks before, Pelican numbers greatly overwhelmed that of  Flamingos which I estimated to be less than two thousand. On this day they were well over half a million!
Great to see the lake, regain her glowing glory.

Other notable species on this non birding tour were; one Ringed-plover, Several Curlew Sandpipers, many Little Stint,  three Avocet, one Woolly-necked Stork, one European Stork, Green and Wood Sandpipers, several tired Ruff.

On 20th September I saw again, most likely the same three Avocet

On 23rd I saw my first wintering Yellow Wagtail this year in Samburu reserve

Great birding
Selempo
