Subject: White-fronted Bee-eaters in Tanzania

All,

Neil Baker has kindly gathered up some information on the current status of White-fronted Bee-eaters in Tanzania and contacts of his have provided the following:

Fred Nelson:

"I get about 5 to 15 birds coming through foraging above my yard every few days here in Ilboru and haven’t noticed any strong variation in their presence."

Paul Oliver:

"White-fronted Bee-eaters around our Kisongo plots this past month.  And usually seen around the eastern slopes of Meru in ANP - never in numbers just a few birds."

Marc Baker:

"Last week at least two pair of bullockoides around Braeburn School which is usual."

So it would seem that things are 'normal' with the Tanzanian populations (and presumably the Amboseli-Tsavo one) and the absence is only from the Central Rift in Kenya.

Best wishes,

David
