Subject: Electrocuted Barn Owl…breeding Marabou Storks, Nairobi.

Dear all:

 

On 16 July 2008, whilst on personal errands in the leafy suburbs of Karen, Nairobi, I saw an electrocuted Barn Owl Tyto alba. The bird is still dangling on the power line near the corners of Marula /Kuja Lanes, off Karen Road.

 

Has anyone within the group ever witnessed this kind of a situation?

 

BTW, the Marabou Storks Leptoptilos crumeniferus are breeding (most of the nests occupied by young chicks), along Uhuru Highway (the section in-between Bunyala and Toyota Kenya) roundabouts.
