Biofuels are meant to be a good idea in the fight against climate change but in reality they risk massive damage to precious wildlife habitats, increase food prices for the some of the world's poorest people and even increased greenhouse gas emissions.
Important decisions are being made in Brussels in the next few days about how much biofuel companies will be required to supply in the next ten years. The RSPB, along with a wide range of other environment and development groups believe that it will not be possible to meet the current proposed 10% target for biofuels without having a devastating effect on the world's ecosystem.
We need to influence public opinion and we have an opportunity today!
European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, has issued a poll about the 10 % biofuels target.
