Karura Forest Greetings

Nature Kenya’s Wednesday Morning Birdwalk had an outstanding outing to Karura Forest on May 21. At the small pond and marsh near the entrance from Limuru Road we had good views of a pair of African Water Rails, and heard a Zanzibar Sombre Greenbul; in the forest we glimpsed trogon, turaco and African Emerald Cuckoo.

The pond is easy to reach, next to a tree nursery. To visit the forest itself, however, the rangers we met requested that we first get permission from the Kenya Forest Service.

Wishing you good birding, Fleur
