Subject: diani forest destruction

Read details from http://colobus. wildlifedirect. org/ about how parts of forest in Diani, coastal Kenya are being destroyed by a hotel; with obvious impacts on birds  - home to some globally-threatened ones as well. During a 1-hr visit to the forest patch in question in July 2003, I saw the following species. We were  searching for the Spotted Ground Thrush (which we found in an adjacent property named 'Banana Farm')

African green pigeon
African Pygmy Kingfisher
Ashy Flycatcher
Black-backed Puffback
Black-bellied Starling
Collared Sunbird
Common Bulbul
Common Drongo
Eastern Bearded Scrub Robin
Fischer's Turaco
Green Barbet
Grey-backed Camaroptera
Hadada Ibis
Little Yellow Flycatcher
Mombasa Woodpecker
Narina Trogon
Northern Brownbul
Olive Sunbird
Red-capped Robin Chat
Red-tailed Ant Thrush
Silvery-cheeked Hornbill
Tropical Boubou
Yellowbill
Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird
