The above website provides information on migratory birds and this year’s theme on biodiversity, it also gives an impression of WMBD activities that took place in 2006 and 2007. Please have a look and get inspired for your own World Migratory Bird Day event in 2008!

On the website you will also find an announcement, a short WMBD trailer and the electronic version of the WMBD 2008 poster for download. We would like to kindly ask you to help promote World Migratory Bird Day by further circulating this message and by featuring news about WMBD in your own electronic or print media resources prior to the WMBD weekend. Please do not hesitate to adjust the announcement to suit your communication needs and help spread the news about this years’ WMBD!

Thank you for your help and continued support - we look forward to celebrating this global event with you!

Yours Sincerely

------------------------------------------------------

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an annual event, which was celebrated worldwide in over 56 countries in 2007. It was initiated by the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (UNEP/AEWA) in collaboration with the global Convention on Migratory Species (UNEP/CMS) - two international environmental treaties administered by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

World Migratory Bird Day was created to raise awareness for the need to protect all migratory birds and their habitats throughout the world.
