Subject: 7 days Birding
Hello Birders,
This time was not guiding any birdwatchers, but was attending a National Bird Guides Workshop from 19-27 March. For 3 days, we were at Elsamere for the workshop and saw a few palaearctic migrant like Willow Warblers, Tree Pipit and Yellow Wagtail. During the workshop, we had a chance to visit some of the different birding sites. The following are areas we visited and what we saw.
1.Kieni Forest - Scarce Swifts 3.
2.Hunter's Lodge - Sedge Warbler.1 and African Golden Weavers.
3.Tsavo West N.P - A pair of Pearl-spotted Owlet, Eurasian Rollers, African Bare-eyed Thrush 1, Olivaceous Warbler 1, and Upcher's Warbler 1.
4.Lake Jipe - Flocks of Zanzibar Red Bishops and Spur-winged Goose 3.
5.Shasha
Camp - Eastern Nicator 1, African Scops Owl 1, A pair of Brown-breasted Barbets and Eurasian Golden Oriole 1. This camp site is about 13 kms from Voi town going towards Taita Hills.
6.Taita Hills - Beside the big 3 T 's bird species, we had a Mt.Kilimanjaro two-horned Chameleon a lifer for me at Ngangao.
