Limuru Ponds
Greetings birders
The first count of the Annual Waterfowl Census cum Wednesday Morning Birdwalk was at Manguo Ponds and Limuru Sewage Treatment ponds on 9 January. The wetlands are shrinking in the sunshine but still full of birds. Highlights included:
Grey Crowned Cranes at both wetlands
Yellow-billed Egrets with long “aigrette” plumes
White-backed Duck with downy young at Manguo
A few Garganeys and Northern Shovelers at Manguo
Pair of Whiskered Terns surveying Manguo Ponds
Common House Martins in mixed swallow flock at Limuru
Yellow-crowned Canary at Manguo
