Subject: Birding at Mountain Rock.

Hello Birders,

I was on a Nature Kenya weekend trip to Mountain Rock (Bantu Lodge) from 27-28 Oct. On Sat 27 we less birding because it was raining heavy, but managed to see 30 species in 1 and half hrs. The next day the weather was nice and sunny. We did a morning birdwalk for 1 hr and one after the breakfast for 2 and half hrs and saw 41 species.

Some of the good species we saw were:-
1.Purple-throated Cuckoo-shrike
2.Martial Eagle – 1
3.Grey Cuckoo-shrike – 1
4.Sharpe’s Starlings
5.Eurasian Golden Oriole – 3
6.Violet-backed Starlings
7.Willow Warbler – 1

Coming back to Nairobi, we saw lots of Barn Swallows along the road.

Shailesh
