Subject: Bird-ringing at Nairobi Museums grounds.

Dear fellow birders and ringers:

On Thursday, 25th October, 2007, I had the opportunity to be the bird-ringing team leader during the Nairobi Ringing Group (NbiRG), Thursday morning banding session.

It was a great privileged to have 13 pupils (aged 4-4.5 years ODs). The "young-would-be -naturalists" where from Premier Academy, Nairobi, accompanied by 2 educators and 1 parent.

12 birds; in 5 species were caught, banded and 2 re-traps (individual numbers in parenthesis):

1. Baglafecht Weaver Ploceus baglafecht (7), in total; 2 re-traps.
2. Chestnut Weaver Ploceus rubiginosus (1) Ad.

male gaining breeding plumage.
3. Streaky Seed-eater Serinus striolatus (3)
4. Rufous Sparrow Passer rufocinctus (1)
5. Grey-headed Sparrow Passer griseus (1)

Other birds seen and recorded were:
Hadada Ibis, Black Kite (collecting nesting material), Great Sparrowhawk (2 immatures and 1 adult), Klaas's Cuckoo (calls heard), Singing and Red-faced Cisiticola, White-bellied Tit, African Paradise Flycatcher (nest-building), Common Bulbul, Black-headed Weaver, and Olive Thrush.
