Subject: December Birding.

Hello Birders,

 

Just did my last 2006 birding tour for 2 weeks. It is very green where ever you go and it rains like cats & dogs. Palaearctic and Afrotropical migrants species seen during this trip. Had a stop over at Kerio valley for lunch coming from Kitale going to Baringo.

 

Some of the species we saw at different areas.

 

1.Kakamega Forest.

  White-breasted Negrofinch - 1.

  Vieillot's Black Weaver - 4.

  Honeyguide Greenbul - 1.

This species were seen around Rondo.

 

2.Buffalo Springs N.R.

  Great-spotted Cuckoo - 2.

 

3.Mt.Elgon N.P.

  Doherty's Bush-shrike - 3.

  Grey Cuckoo-shrike - 3.

 

4.Lake Baringo.

  Masked Shrike - 1

Follow the road which passes Kampi ya samaki and go north along the lake shore. 

 

5.Kerio Valley.

  Black-headed Gonolek - 2.

  White-crested Helmet Shrike - 1.

 

6.Mountain Lodge.

  Eastern Bronze-naped Pigeon - 3.

  Kenrick's Starling - 3.

  Sharpe's Starling - 2.

  Common Whitethroat - 1.
