Dear All,
I have just completed a two week bird tour of Central Kenya with Mel 
Ogola and Edwin Selempo, here are our more interesting 
observations.....
Madagascar Squacco Heron 4 together Musiara Airstrip Pool, Mara 8th 
July
African Cuckoo-Hawk 1 Nairobi Pk 26th June
Montagu's Harrier 1 imm male Amboseli NP 29th/30th June, one imm 
male Mara 7th July
Black-tailed Godwit 4 with other palearctic waders Nakuru 5th July
Common Sandpiper 2 Nakuru 5th July
Blue-spotted Wood Dove 1 Lion Hill Nakuru 6th July
Dusky Turtle Dove 1 Baringo 4th July
White-headed Mousebird 4 13kms along road from Main Entrance, inside 
Amboseli NP, although always along the Emali Road, this is the first 
time I have seen them in the Park.
10 species of Owls in Central Kenya, 9 in daylight!!!
White-eared Barbet 2 Mountain Lodge 2nd July
Yellow-spotted Barbet 3 Kericho Arboretum 6th July
Athi Short-toed Lark 6 Mara Intrepids 6th-8th July... photographed 
collecting nesting material, Z&T gives no records west of Rift 
Valley, although I have know them in eastern Mara for ten years or 
so.
Joyful Greenbul 2 Sabaringo Valley Mara 8th July
Black-lored Babbler 8 Naregei Engare, 35kms east of Narok 9th July
Taita Fiscal 2 tarmac end on road to Keekerok Mara 9th July..... not 
given as occurring in west of Rift in south in Z&T, but has always 
been there.
Grey-crested Helmet-Shrike 5 Nakuru NP 5th July, staying discrete 
from 6 White-crested only a few hundred metres away
Grey-headed Sparrow very common in Narok 9th July
Southern Red Bishop 1 ad male near Siana Springs Mara, 9th July the 
first I have personally recorded in the Mara
Fire-fronted Bishop 2 males and a few females Amboseli NP 29th June
Best to all for a fine season with a very green Kenya (except for 
Tsavo)

the old days and ripe for a good local rarity!
