i got the following mail from Philip Hechle, a member of 
the "KENYABIRDSNET".

... As a matter of interest, (in case it is important), I believe 
the first sighting of the Ferruginous Duck was 3 birds on the 
weekend of 11/12 Jan. by Rose Caldwell, and Karen & Patrick Plumbe 
on the Caldwell's dam up at Timau.
